Since 2016, the Federal Government of Somalia has been implementing an ambitious reform program supported by the IMF and WB in order to introduce and implement rigorous economic and financial reforms to foster economic recovery that stimulate economic growth to enable Somalia benefit from the debt relief contemplated under the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) and Multilateral Debt Relief (MDR) initiatives.

During the first quarter of 2021, the Government of Somalia continued negotiations with Paris Club creditors and signed the bilateral agreement with the government of Italy. This agreement contemplates additional debt relief at Completion Point, and it is expected that all outstanding debt will be cancelled at Completion Point. Furthermore, negotiations with the Russian Federation continued during this quarter in order to finalize the bilateral agreement with this creditor and the settlement of the outstanding short-term debt

The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) would  like to procure a software  system  to automate the core functions of the Customs administration, thus replacing the predominantly manual system that is currently in place. It is expected that this system will provide most of the required clearance functions as at this point in time, as well as be flexible to expanding functionality as Customs reforms progress.

The title seems both mysterious and exciting! To cut the reader’s confusion short, the title is related to the Saudi Project for the Utilisation of Hajj Meat. It simply means that, last year, the Project was able to slaughter about a million livestock in 84 hours and distributed them to deserving beneficiaries in 27 countries of the Muslim world. Distribution started with the poor in the Haram area of Makkah.

Since the establishment of the Federal Government of Somalia in 2013, the Government has embarked on a serious of ambitious public financial management and public administration reforms to develop modernized and internationally recognized institutions. The Customs and Revenue Department of the Ministry of Finance of Government of Somalia (GOS) is seeking the services of a software development company to develop and implement a bespoke Customs Automated System (CAS) for Federal Government of Somalia and Federal Member States of Jubbaland and Puntland.

The Customs Automated System CAS is being procured under the CRATES project which is jointly funded by the European Union, the UK Department for International Development and the USAID. 

Nearly eight (8) years have passed since the end of the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia in August  2012, a critical milestone in Somalia’s post-conflict reconstruction and development agenda. Since the formal  establishment of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS), the Government has embarked on a series of  ambitious reforms to develop modernized and internationally recognized institutions characterized by the rule  of law and made serious headway in promoting a peaceful, secure, and stable Somalia for its citizens.
